Ingredients:

  • 5 lemons
  • 1 ¼ cups white sugar
  • 1 ¼ quarts water

Directions:

  1. Prepare the lemons: Start by peeling the rinds from the 5 lemons and cutting them into ½-inch slices. Set the peeled lemons aside for later.

  2. Mix the sugar and lemon rinds: Place the lemon rinds in a bowl and sprinkle the sugar over them. Let this sit for about one hour to allow the sugar to absorb the lemon oils.

  3. Boil the water: In a saucepan, bring the water to a boil. Once boiling, pour the hot water over the sugared lemon rinds. Let the mixture cool for about 20 minutes, then remove the rinds.

  4. Juice the lemons: Squeeze the juice from the peeled lemons into a separate bowl. Strain the juice to remove any seeds or pulp, and pour it into the sugar mixture. Stir everything well.

  5. Chill and serve: Transfer the lemonade to a pitcher and refrigerate. Serve with ice cubes for a cool, refreshing drink.

Enjoy this timeless, homemade lemonade with friends and family!
